"Creep relaxation" under high-pressure/high-temperature cycling leads to bolt loosening and subsequent leakage.
In real working conditions, some NBR (nitrile rubber) gasket types especially those containing a lot of filler or low effective rubber content can have different levels of compressive stress relaxation and permanent deformation when they are exposed to continual compressive loads or thermal cycling.
This process leads to the following performance changes:
Gradual reduction in gasket thickness and a decline in recovery force.
Decay of bolt preload over time.
Reduction in contact pressure at the flange interface.
Gradual failure of the sealing interface, increasing the risk of leakage.
Sometimes, even if the assembly were initially compliant with the standards, when operating, if internal system pressure gets close to or is more than actual residual sealing contact pressure, the leakage may happen progressively or intermittently.
In engineering practice, such problems normally don't show up in static testing of the factory but rather through the gradual operation for a long time or the thermal cycling, which could result in:
Increased frequency of on-site re-tightening and maintenance.
Higher costs associated with unplanned repairs.
Elevated risk of system downtime.
Reduced reliability of the sealing system.

High-Resilience Virgin Formulation: Yida keeps a tight check on the rubber content of its NBR rubber gasket and restricts the use of recycled materials and inorganic fillers, opting the best NBR formulation for particular operating conditions. Selecting an NBR formulation with the right acrylonitrile content as per media requirements, we deliver the best elastic recovery (Elastic Recovery ≥ 40%, Internal Test Method). Thus, the gasket produces a continuous "counter-force" against the flange faces even at high bolt loads, which successfully prevents bolt loosening.
Controlled Vulcanization Process:
We use a rheometer to constantly check each batch of rubber compound during the vulcanization process to make sure the rubber molecular chains are fully cross-linked. This method significantly lowers Nitrile butadiene rubber gasket compression set and also the long-term creep phenomenon, thus reducing maintenance frequency.
